Editorial Policies

SMART-MD publishes work that advances precision medicine and prioritizes qualified research from field experts. Editorial decisions are made independent of any conflict(s) of interest. Participants in the publication process are expected to disclose relationships that could reasonably affect interpretation of the work.

Peer Review Process
SMART-MD uses an Anonymous Reviewer/Disclosed Author review process for eligible articles by 2 or more qualified reviewers. Depending on the manuscript, additional statistical or technical review may be used. In some cases special information may be published by consensus of editorial board members and the EIC.

Authorship and Accuracy
Authors are responsible for the accuracy and integrity of their work. This includes ensuring that data are reliable, analyses are reproducible, and findings are presented honestly. When appropriate, authors should be prepared to provide access to underlying data or explain any limitations to sharing. At least one author should have directly verified the data used in the study.
Authorship should reflect meaningful contribution. All listed authors must approve the final version and accept responsibility for the content. The journal does not accept previously published work or work that is under consideration with another journal. Research previously presented as an abstract to a scientific meeting may be submitted; please note the details of this abstract submission at the end of your manuscript.

AI
Use of AI tools is permitted but must be disclosed. Authors remain fully responsible for all submitted content.

The Journal requires that all authors or their agents assign copyright to SMART-MD Publishing LLC. The author(s) must warrant that the manuscript is the original work of the author(s) and as never been published in its present form. The corresponding author, with the consent of all other authors must transfer, to the extent that there is copyright to be transferred, the exclusive copyright interest in the article, and all subsequent editions of the article to SMART-MD Publishing. The Publisher may license the use of contents of the work to entities so long as the authors are credited for their contributions.
